Llamas were domesticated from guanacos in the Andean Highlands of Peru
4-5000 years ago. Among the oldest domesticated animals in the world. Since
that time, people have been bringing them back to the United States. There
are about 200,000 registered
Life span: 20 - 25 years
Height: 3'- 4' at shoulder, 5'- 6' at head.
Weight: 250 - 400 pounds
Llamas eat pasture grasses, hay, and a grain concentrate and minerals.
They have a three compartment stomach. They chew a cud. |
